Master’s Tournament – Things To Know

It’s the first week of April. Are you ready for the biggest week in the world of golf?

The Masters Tournament will begin Thursday, April 7th through Sunday, April 10th, and Wagner’s Golf is here to prepare you for the tour’s most exciting tournament! Here’s everything you need to know before the 2022 edition of The Masters.

The Course: Unlike other majors, the venue for The Masters Tournament never changes. This venue, the Augusta National Golf Course, is one of the most iconic venues in the world of sports. In Augusta, Georgia, the course is highlighted by signature azaleas flowers and rolling hills, and the 11th-13th hole stretch can be daunting for even the tour’s best players. Nicknamed Amen Corner, this stretch is famous for making or breaking famous rounds from golf’s most recognizable names. Rae’s creek splits the 12th and 13th holes, and with swirling winds likely, fans can expect to see some shots find the water. As for the rest of the course, expect the Masters to be the sharpest course on the tour. Every detail from the pine needles to the fairway grass will likely be perfect.

The Green Jacket: When it comes to the prize, the Masters Tournament has the most unique trophy in all of sports. Winners of the Masters are presented with a special blazer known across the sports world as “the green jacket.” However, the green jacket isn’t just a trophy. Having a green jacket is seen as an invitation into an exclusive group of golf’s greatest. It’s worn as a badge of honor and will likely be a golfer’s highest achievement. Watching who will get the exclusive green jacket is another reason to tune into the Masters.

The Fans: Affectionately known as patrons, the fans at the Master’s will be among the best crowd the tour has to offer. At The Augusta National Golf Course, the cheers of the fanbase will travel up and down the course. It’s been a turbulent two years for fans at the Masters tournament. The 2020 tournament was moved to November, then spectators returned in limited numbers for the 2021 event. Now, the Masters will return in its full capacity for the first time since 2019. We saw some great golf in the years affected by COVID-19, but having fans is an x-factor that makes the Masters the must-see event it is. With the course full of die-hard golf fans this year, the atmosphere will be a top-notch experience for fans, golfers, and television viewers.

The Players: Golf’s biggest names have historically been champs at the Masters. Tiger Woods has five wins, with golf legend Jack Nicklaus having the most wins with six. With an $11 million prize at stake, golf’s most talented will be gunning for the top spot on the leaderboard. Let’s go over the field: Currently Spanish golfer Jon Rahm is the betting favorite. Also expected to be atop the leaderboard are Collin Morikawa and 2015 winner Jordan Speith. The Master is the first major tournament of the year, so viewers should expect the unexpected!

We know you’ll likely be glued to your screen this weekend anticipating a great Masters Tournament. Feel free to check out the Wagner’s Golf website and see how we can cover all of your golfing needs at great prices!
